Vision & Mission

To be pioneers in English and Translation education in Tunisia by providing creative and exceptional training programs.

The mission of the Department of English at Faculty of Arts and Humanities, Kairouan, Tunisia is to forge great English language and translation specialists to meet the challenges of a knowledge-based society and to compete nationally and worldwide. This is accomplished by establishing a highly effective educational and scientific community. It is realizedalso through developing  curricula and syllabi that are constantly updated to reflect the most recent developments in order to meet job market needs and initiate educational initiatives that are compliant with national and international accreditation.

DEPARTMENT GENERAL OBJECTIVES

  • To provide adequate pedagogies and facilities (classrooms, equipment, resources, and technology) that will lead to increased student retention and success, as well as an increase in undergraduates and postgraduates.
  • To assist students in seeing themselves as professionals, as members of a discipline with skills and abilities useful in teaching, publishing, editing, research, translation, and post-graduate jobs.
  • Encourage multinational research projects and programs to give students a feeling of themselves as members of a global community.
  • Through workshops, lectures by eminent educators, and their own creative and critical production and presentation through clubs, students will be exposed to the importance of creativity in English education and translation.
  • To establish a balance between general education and major requirements, such as communication, diversity, global viewpoints, and interdisciplinary studies.
