The English Department is a part of The Faculty of Arts and Humanities, Kairouan that is a public research faculty located in Kairouan, Tunisia. It was founded on 31 December 1984. The core of the faculty is formed by five academic departments; Arabic, English, French, Philosophy, Translation and Archaeology Department.

The mission of the Department of English at Faculty of Arts and Humanities, Kairouan, Tunisia is to forge great English language and translation specialists to meet the challenges of a knowledge-based society and to compete nationally and worldwide. This is accomplished by establishing a highly effective educational and scientific community. It is realized also through developing curricula and syllabi that are constantly updated to reflect the most recent developments in order to meet job market needs and initiate educational initiatives that are compliant with national and international accreditation.
The Department of English Language (DEL) at faculty of arts and Humanities Kairouan provides two diplomas: National Diploma in English Language and National Diploma in Translation (English Specialty). It aims at offering students the opportunity to acquire language skills for communicative, technical and translation purposes. The training includes focus on Linguistics, literature, and culture studies in addition to other subjects that open the horizon towards diverse fields of work such as teaching, translation, and other entrepreneurial areas.
The list of target professions includes: Teaching, translation, tourism professions, communication, administrative professions, Non-governmental organizations, management… etc. The training received during the BA or MA level enables students to build skills in order to practice English in different professional domains.
